The Nashville Composers Association, in conjunction with WPLN 90.3, is calling for scores for the 13th November (Tuesday) broadcast of WPLN'S "Live in Studio C."
The theme for this broadcast will be: MUSIC WITH THE SPOKEN WORD. Could be poetry, could be a news item, could be the box score from a recent predator's game, or it could be your thoughts on global warming and the alarming number of upsets in the NCAA tourney this year...the sky is the limit.
The instrumentation will be simple:
Piano
Cello
Violin (2)
Viola
Flute
F. Horn
Please, for the sake of rehearsal and space in the studio, use no more than three of these instruments in your piece.
Pieces should be no more than 10 minutes long, though exceptions are possible.
Poems/Readings should be either in the public domain or used by permission of the author/publisher.
Scores should be submitted no later than August 1, 2006.
It is suggested, though not required, to submit a synth mock up or the recording of a previous performance with the score, (the piece does not have to be a premiere).
The NCA will make available a narrator/reader, however you are free to provide one yourself. Though this is a call for music and the spoken word, but singing is okay...in the event you use a singer, you will need to provide the vocalist.
Make all submissions to:
